AMATEUR ASTRONOMY COMMUNITY (AAC)

In cooperation with astronomy enthusiasts and relevant institutions, our aim is to develop astronomical studies in our country, raise awareness among students by organizing seminars and observation events, translate information and current news from foreign sources into our language, inform the public about celestial events, facilitate communication between members and experts in astronomy, provide necessary information to enthusiasts quickly and easily through our website, and create a national platform for sharing.

AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHY COMMUNITY (APC)

Our goal is to promote the art of photography at our university, bring together students who are interested in photography, provide them with a creative environment and technical support for their projects, organize courses, hold exhibitions, and organize a photography festival with the participation of other amateur photography communities and groups.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY (R&D)

Our aim is to increase scientific and technical knowledge by conducting systematic research, fostering creative efforts, and utilizing this knowledge in new applications. We strive to spread the culture and tradition of research and development, promoting the concepts of inquiry, invention, and idea generation across the country, ensuring that these values are adopted by society. ARCHAEOLOGY COMMUNITY

Our goal is to conduct scientific studies related to the cradle of civilization, Anatolian culture, which holds an important place in the world’s cultural heritage. We aim to introduce the richness of this culture to the public, spread the love and awareness of archaeology, and organize informative seminars and trips to the ancient sites in our country.

ATATÜRKIST THOUGHT COMMUNITY (ADT)

This community was established to better understand and promote Atatürk and his ideology. The aim is to interpret Kemalism (Atatürkism), a 20th-century ideology, according to the ever-changing conditions of the present age and to bring new perspectives to it. We focus on examining Atatürk’s revolutions and principles, the contemporary results of these revolutions, and their societal reflections, while also conducting scientific research on these topics.

EUROPEAN STUDENTS’ FORUM COMMUNITY (AEGEE-Ankara)

AEGEE supports the active role of students and youth in society across Europe. In addition to creating a platform for dialogue and educational opportunities, AEGEE also acts as their representative to decision-makers. Moreover, AEGEE strengthens mutual understanding and brings Europe closer to young people. AEGEE-Ankara, which joined the AEGEE network in April 1995, has become one of the most active locals in this network. Its inclusion has shattered outdated concepts about the boundaries of modern Europe and contributed to a new understanding of the concept of "Values of Europe" within AEGEE.

EUROPEAN STUDENTS OF TECHNOLOGY COMMUNITY (BEST)

SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY COMMUNITY (BKFT)

Our aim is to introduce and popularize science fiction and fantasy, which are considered institutional art forms in developed countries and are literary genres. We also aim to promote subgenres of science fiction and fantasy such as FRP, RPG, LARP, GM, CON, and similar games, encourage story writing, comic book reading, and contribute to the cultural richness in Turkey.

CHILDREN’S LANGUAGE OF SCIENCE COMMUNITY

The ODTÜ Children’s Language of Science Community aims to adapt the language of science into a form and method that children aged 3-8 can understand. The ODTÜ Blockchain Community aims to assist ODTÜ students by providing research and educational programs in blockchain technologies, helping them become familiar with blockchain in their academic and professional lives, and encouraging them to develop creative and visionary ideas. This community aims to provide jazz music education and a resource library on various instruments and vocal techniques for students who wish to learn jazz music. CHILDREN'S MINDS COMMUNITY

The goal of this community is to contribute to the cognitive, emotional, physical, social, and language development of children aged 0-6, regardless of their socioeconomic background. NATURE RESEARCH COMMUNITY

This community aims to conduct ecological studies on the animal and plant species in Turkey, especially in Ankara, to document and promote existing biological diversity, contribute to nature conservation, and raise awareness among ODTÜ students about conservation and research. We also aim to recognize and introduce the animal and plant species on the university’s land, contributing to science and nature preservation.

ECOSAM STUDENT COMMUNITY

The aim of this community is to introduce and raise awareness about the natural wealth and biodiversity of the ODTÜ campus, primarily among students, and to promote the conservation of these resources. To achieve this goal, the community organizes environmental and nature-themed education, fieldwork, presentations, workshops, seminars, documentary screenings, and other citizen science activities. The community consists of students interested in environmental issues, campus recognition, conservation, and research, and those willing to spread this awareness and connect with like-minded individuals.

YOUNG RED CRESCENT COMMUNITY

The ODTÜ Young Red Crescent Community is a volunteer-based organization that organizes trainings, activities, and workshops in blood and stem cell donation. Guided by the seven fundamental principles of Red Crescent, it works towards developing a culture of sharing, tolerance, and respect for differences among young people. The community aims to raise awareness about blood donation, stem cell donation, and related issues.

YOUNG GREEN CRESCENT CLUB

In line with the core principles of Green Crescent, the club aims to carry out awareness-raising activities against addictions such as tobacco, alcohol, substances, technology, and gambling; and to organize trainings, workshops, seminars, and social responsibility projects on these issues.

GO COMMUNITY

FINE ARTS COMMUNITY (GST)

The Fine Arts Community helps foster the social and cultural development of its members and those benefiting from community activities through art. AEROSPACE AND AVIATION COMMUNITY (HUT)

This community aims to provide its members with opportunities to create projects and engage in activities in technical and social fields across Europe. It also seeks to introduce and popularize aviation among the youth. The community works to represent Turkey, Turkish culture, Ankara, ODTÜ, and the ODTÜ Department of Aerospace Engineering in international organizations in the best possible way. Additionally, it contributes to the advancement of the aviation and space industry in Turkey, increases communication between students, faculty members, and the sector, and contributes to the technical, social, and personal development of its members at the highest level.

ANIMAL FRIENDS COMMUNITY

This community focuses on the protection of street animals on campus according to Law No. 5199, ensuring that these animals can live in their natural habitats. It also provides vaccinations under veterinary control and ensures regular feeding for animals living among people, such as leashed dogs and campus cats, with the help of community members and volunteers. The community organizes seminars to raise awareness among students and staff about street animals and to help individuals overcome their fears of animals that have previously been attacked. Additionally, it provides training on animal-borne diseases and measures to be taken in case of animal attacks, led by experts.

IACES ODTÜ COMMUNITY

The IACES ODTÜ (International Association for Civil Engineering Students) is a connection hub for students aiming to work in the construction sector, both nationally and internationally. The community was established to strengthen the bonds between students and their future colleagues in the construction industry, facilitate the exchange of knowledge, collaboratively solve engineering education challenges, and stay updated on international developments to support the community. It also aims to foster personal and professional development for students planning to work in the construction industry.

IEEE ODTÜ STUDENT COMMUNITY

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) ODTÜ Student Community aims to increase awareness of electrical and electronics engineering, encourage technological advancement, explain the benefits of technology to society, and raise awareness. It also seeks to promote technology-focused entrepreneurship, strengthen university-industry collaboration, and support the professional and social development of its members.

The community, founded to engage in complementary social activities with children in need of support, especially those with leukemia and mental disabilities, takes its name from the first letters of diseases and genetic differences that are prioritized in its work, such as Leukemia, Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. In a short period since its establishment, the community has grown rapidly and reached hundreds of children through dozens of hospital, foundation, and educational institution visits, organized many wishes, and awareness events, helping raise awareness of these children.

THEATER COMMUNITY

Our aim is to bring together students interested in theater, promote a love for theater, support students’ creativity in the field of arts, and help them gain confidence and performance skills in front of an audience. TURKISH FOLKLORE COMMUNITY (THBT)

Founded in 1961, the community has continued its activities uninterruptedly and operates in four main fields: folk dance, folk music, folk theater, and regional research. Its activities include learning and teaching folk dances in their authentic forms; researching and performing traditional plays such as "orta oyunu" and village theater; training in folk musical instruments, notation, compilation and archiving; conducting field research on folk culture; and organizing seminars, panels, and symposiums on folklore. The Green Campus Society (ODTÜ YKT) works towards achieving a socially, economically, and ecologically balanced development of the METU campus — that is, a "sustainable campus." The society encourages students to conduct scientific studies related to the campus, turning METU into a sustainability lab contributing to academic literature. It also aims to raise awareness about preserving the ecological and social integrity of the campus, and to establish effective communication among students, academic staff, and administration for campus-related initiatives.

MANAGEMENT CONSULTING SOCIETY

Our aim is to increase interest in management consulting and to contribute to both personal and social development with a solution-oriented perspective. Through the events we organize and our social responsibility projects, we support our members in their continuous growth. Our society strives to cultivate a management consulting culture at METU and to play a leading role in helping our graduates establish a strong presence in the industry.
