Our offices affiliated to the METU Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports will continue to provide food, accommodation, health, sports and cultural services under safe and hygienic conditions in line with the "Guidance to COVID-19 Outbreak Management and Working" published by the Ministry of Health on June 29, 2021.

Rectorate

A) DORMITORIES:

On our campus, there are 19 student dormitories with a total bed capacity of 7,294 (3,494 for female students and 3,800 for male students) to provide accommodation for our students coming from other cities. These dormitories will operate at full capacity in line with the COVID-19 measures. The dates and details regarding the steps of application, registration and placement are given below:

1. Applications for the dormitory will be submitted on the METU 2021 YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam) Registration Program website (https://ykskayit.metu.edu.tr/) between 6-13 September 2021. https://ykskayit.metu.edu.tr/

2. Our students will be placed in the dormitories based on several criteria including their YKS exam grades and the income level of their families.

3. If they meet the criteria, dormitory applications of students who started METU in the 2020-2021 academic year and the students who will start in the 2021-2022 academic year will be evaluated together.

4. According to the decision of the Executive Board of Dormitories, students who have the following ranking success in YKS Exam and live outside of Ankara will be placed in the METU dormitories for a fee without further consideration of other criteria:

a) The students who ranked in the top 4,000 in QUANTITATIVE field,

b) The students who ranked in the top 500 in EQUAL WEIGHT field,

c) The students who ranked in the top 300 in VERBAL field,

d) The students who ranked in the top 100 in FOREIGN LANGUAGE field,

e) The students who ranked in the top 3 in the Science Olympiads organized by TÜBİTAK.

5. Students who want to apply for the guest houses will be able to submit their applications on September 22, 2021, by following the instructions on the ogrencikonukevikayit.metu.edu.tr website after completing their dormitory applications on the METU 2021 YKS Registration Program website.

6. The placements of our students who are entitled to register at the dormitories will be announced on Friday, October 1, 2021, on the Office of Dormitories website: yurtlar.metu.edu.tr

7. The dormitory placement and registration process for our current students continuing their education in their departments or repeating their Preparatory School courses will begin only after the placement and registration steps are completed for the newly registered students of our university.

8. For the 2021-2022 academic year, our dormitories will be open as of October 8, 2021.

9. According to the Senate decision taken for the 2021 Fall Semester, our students must have a complete COVID-19 vaccination record as specified on E-Nabız for their dormitory registration.

10. All the necessary measures have been taken in our dormitories to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection such as the positioning of the beds in the rooms, use of common areas, markings and posters to remind social distancing, etc. It is mandatory for our students staying in the dormitories to wear face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. When registering for the dormitories, our students must accept the undertaking that specifies the rules of common living in the dormitories and the ways of protection from COVID-19.

11. In case of a possible COVID-19 infection, quarantine corridors have been allocated in some of the dormitory buildings in order to isolate the infected students and the students who are at risk due to close contact with the infected ones.

12. No guest or delivery service personnel will be allowed to enter the dormitories in any way.

B) CAFETERIAS:

In the cafeterias of our university, food service suitable for a healthy and balanced diet will continue to be provided within the COVID-19 precautions. The measures taken are as follows:

• In the buildings and halls run by the Office of Cafeterias, the tables have a diagonal seating arrangement which reduces the number of people sitting at a table together by 50%. Our students may choose to either sit at the tables to eat or take away their meals for lunch and dinner services. The same menu will be served in all of the halls.

• All of the halls in the Cafeteria building will serve food to our students only. In these halls, it is planned to provide meals to a total number of 9,800 students every day (Approximately 6,000 in the afternoon and 3,800 in the evening).

• In the halls of Social Building (for academic and administrative personnel), Garage Cafeteria (for academic and administrative personnel), and Faculty Club (for academic personnel), approximately 1,800 personnel will be served food daily by following the same measures.

• Transactions of adding money to smart cards must only be done online or via the ATMs on the campus. This transaction cannot be done through the kiosks by using cash anymore.

• There will be further changes to be made by the Office of Cafeterias as required by the COVID-19 regulations.

• Dinner service in the Cafeteria Building will start as of October 11, 2021.

Dinner Time: 16.30 - 18.30

Social Building (for Academic and Administrative Personnel)

Lunch Time: 11.30 - 14.00

Faculty Club (for Academic Personnel)

Lunch Time: 11.30 - 14.00

Garage Cafeteria (for Academic and Administrative Personnel)

Lunch Time: 12.00 - 13.00

C) INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SPORTS FACILITIES:

In line with the pandemic regulations, all the necessary hygiene measures have been taken in the indoor and outdoor sports facilities of our university, and sessions have been designated for those who want to use these facilities. Our students and members will have the opportunity to benefit from these facilities by using the online appointment system, which requires their HES Codes and vaccination information to be obtained from E-Nabız.

D) MEDICAL AND COUNSELING CENTER:

The Medical and Counseling Center of our university will continue to provide the same safe, and high-quality service it has provided during the most difficult periods of the pandemic for our students and members by offering an online appointment system.

E) CULTURE AND CONVENTION CENTER:

The Culture and Convention Center will start operating with its safe and clean halls and reduced capacity of 50%, which requires a new seating plan (one seat full and one seat empty) in line with the "Guidance to COVID-19 Outbreak Management and Working."

F) KINDERGARTEN AND DAYCARE CENTER OF OUR UNIVERSITY:

The Kindergarten and Daycare Center of our university, which has continued to provide healthy and safe education during the pandemic except for the short-term closures, will be open on September 13, 2021.
